Data space kit
July 22, 2025
DESCRIPCIÓN
On July 16, 2025, the Official State Gazette (BOE) published the regulatory guidelines for the new “Data Spaces Kit” programme, promoted by the State Secretariat for Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence, part of the Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Service. The initiative aims to support the integration of public and private entities, as well as public administrations with a high level of digital maturity, into data spaces. The programme has a total budget of €60 million.
Grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis until the budget is exhausted. They are intended to cover costs related to joining, preparing for, and publishing products in eligible data spaces. Funding comes from the European Union’s Next Generation EU funds under Spain’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
Private entities and public bodies engaged in economic activity may receive up to €30,000, while public administrations can be granted up to €50,000, depending on the level of integration (partial or full).
The programme will be managed by Red.es, with advisory support provided by the Centre of Excellence for Data Spaces (CRED), which will guide participating organisations throughout the process.
Eligible data spaces include those listed in the National Sectoral Data Spaces Strategy, the National Health Data Space, and other initiatives that will be included in the upcoming “Trusted List” developed by the Directorate General for Data Governance.
Key benefits of the programme include:
-
Enhanced innovation capabilities and the development of data-driven products and services.
-
Improved decision-making and operational efficiency for both organisations and public entities.
-
Increased global competitiveness and long-term sustainability of the Spanish data economy.
The programme is designed for digitally mature public and private entities that are already leveraging technology in their operations and seek to tap into the opportunities offered by the data economy.
The official call for applications is expected later this summer, with the application period opening in October 2025.
