CRED Publishes Compliance Verification Guide for Data Spaces UNE 0087:2025
The Center of Reference for Data Spaces (CRED) has published the "Compliance Verification Guide for UNE 0087:2025 Specification," a technical document that defines the methodological framework to assess whether an initiative can be considered a compliant data space according to UNE 0087:2025: “Definition and Characterization of Data Spaces.”
The guide establishes a technical and organizational verification mechanism based on verifiable evidence, allowing project promoters to identify the alignment of their initiatives with governance, interoperability, security, digital sovereignty, and value generation principles.
The evaluation process is structured into five functional areas, each with specific criteria and associated evidence:
Business Model
Analyzes the existence of a solid strategic plan, identification of participants, value proposition, sustainability mechanisms, and scalability strategy.
Governance System
Verifies the presence of a formal governing authority, clear participation rules, adhesion mechanisms, and accountability processes.
Technical Solution and Security
Assesses technical architecture, identity and access management, trust services, traceability, and implemented privacy and security measures.
Interoperability
Checks the adoption of standards and protocols that enable seamless system connectivity across legal, organizational, semantic, and technical layers.
Functional Verification
The final and decisive criterion: confirming that the data space actually operates, through evidence such as participant adherence, asset publication in catalogs, or transaction execution.
With this document, CRED provides not only a rigorous technical tool but also promotes a shared vision of how data spaces should be designed and validated in Spain. It represents a key step towards a more robust, interoperable, and trustworthy digital ecosystem, where data is established as a strategic asset for innovation and sustainable development.
