The European Commission takes a key step in deploying the European Health Data Space
April 13, 2026
DESCRIPCIÓN
The European Commission has taken a major step forward in the development of the European Health Data Space (EHDS) with the publication of the regulation establishing the creation and operation of its governing body. This Council will be responsible for coordinating Member States in the implementation of this health data ecosystem. The regulation will enter into force on April 28, 2026, and sets, for the first time, the practical rules for how this body will function.
The Council will act as a cooperation platform between countries and the Commission, facilitating technical alignment among key stakeholders and the exchange of best practices. This new governance model aims to ensure a consistent implementation of the EHDS across Europe and to strengthen collaboration between administrations, enabling the interoperable and secure use and sharing of health data.
