Spain moves forward with its integration into the European Health Data Space

The Ministry of Health has opened a public consultation, available until 20 October, to adapt the Spanish legal framework to the European Regulation governing the European Health Data Space (EEDS). This initiative seeks to guarantee citizens' rights over their electronic health data, improve interoperability between autonomous communities and with other EU countries, and integrate both the public and private sectors into digital medical records.

The future Digital Health Law will also address the use of data in research, technological innovation and public health, creating a national and regional data access system that will connect to the EU network. In addition, it will regulate the application of new technologies in healthcare and establish criteria for incorporating and financing digital products in the National Health System.
