Dataspace Protocol enters the ISO/IEC standardization process
January 02, 2026
DESCRIPCIÓN
The Eclipse Dataspace Working Group has formally launched the process to submit the Dataspace Protocol (DSP) and the Decentralized Claims Protocol (DCP) for recognition as international standards by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). This step does not imply immediate approval nor does it change the current status of the protocols, but it does open a clear path toward international standardization, with the direct involvement of ISO/IEC experts.
The DSP was originally developed by the International Data Spaces Association (IDSA) and transferred in 2023 to the Eclipse Foundation to foster its evolution in an open and vendor-neutral environment. Since then, the protocol has progressed with contributions from a wide range of industry stakeholders. For organizations operating data spaces, this process brings greater clarity, strengthens interoperability, and supports long-term stability. If you also want to benefit from the momentum that the Dataspace Protocol brings to the data economy, you can become a BAIDATA member through this link and gain access to Spain’s largest data spaces ecosystem.
