COMPASS-AI is the new European initiative to promote safe and responsible AI in healthcare

The European Commission has launched COMPASS-AI, a key initiative that for the first time explicitly links Artificial Intelligence innovation with data governance, aligning with the upcoming European Health Data Space (EHDS). The programme will establish a community of experts, promote the safe and effective use of AI in clinical settings, and focus on priority areas such as cancer care and health services in remote areas. It will also introduce a digital platform to share best practices and strengthen AI literacy among healthcare professionals, hospital managers, and patients.
