BAIDATA joins a pivotal week for the advancement of data spaces
February 06, 2026
DESCRIPCIÓN
Next week marks a decisive moment for the advancement of data spaces with the Data Spaces Symposium, taking place in Madrid on 10–11 February. Hosting this flagship event, organised by the Data Spaces Support Centre (DSSC), strengthens Spain’s position on the European digital innovation map while also highlighting the relevance of the Sectoral Data Spaces Boosting Plan promoted by the Ministry for Digital Transformation and the Civil Service. This Plan has clearly demonstrated the maturity of the Spanish ecosystem and the strong potential of data spaces as a driver of competitiveness and digital sovereignty.
Both this successful initiative and the new edition of the Data Spaces Symposium reflect the new reality of data spaces, which have moved beyond strategic vision to become a tangible reality, with projects, investments and use cases already transforming key sectors of the economy. In this context, Óscar Lázaro, Secretary of BAIDATA and Managing Director of Asociación Innovalia, will be one of the speakers in the session dedicated to success stories in the industrial sector and supply chain.
Since its inception, BAIDATA has focused its efforts on fostering a strong, collaborative data space ecosystem, oriented towards delivering real value for industry and society. Our approach is based on encouraging the participation of all stakeholders and promoting standards and trust frameworks that enable secure, ethical and effective data sharing.
This vision goes beyond the creation of digital infrastructures, aiming instead to enable a new data-driven cooperation model, where interoperability and digital sovereignty are fundamental pillars. In this sense, BAIDATA works to connect sectoral initiatives, ensure technological coherence and accelerate the development of high-impact services and applications that enhance competitiveness and sustainability.
Digital Twins: Connecting Assets with Data Spaces
Within this vision, technologies such as digital twins play a key complementary role by linking data to real-world assets and processes, strengthening the value of data spaces and facilitating their industrial adoption. Initiatives promoted by the Industrial Digital Twin Association (IDTA), such as the Asset Administration Shell (AAS), make it possible to represent industrial assets in a standardised way and connect their information to data spaces, enabling interoperability, traceability and the creation of advanced data-driven services.
The Data Spaces Symposium in Madrid will therefore be much more than an event: it will be a meeting point to demonstrate that change is already underway. The combination of public policies, demonstration projects, business collaboration and technologies such as digital twins is laying the foundations for a more competitive, resilient and sustainable data economy.
From BAIDATA, we continue to play a leading role on this path, connecting ecosystem actors and promoting data spaces that turn collaboration into a real strategic advantage for industry and society.
